Charged in Minnesota? A clear next step.

DWI, assault, drugs, theft, a felony. Tell us what happened and we'll tell you what comes next, in plain terms. The consultation is free.

Arrested in Minnesota? After a DWI the license revocation starts right away and the window to challenge it is short. Any charge: don't give a statement before you talk to a lawyer.

Common questions

Do I have to talk to the police?

No. You must identify yourself, and nothing more. Politely say you want a lawyer and stop talking. Anything you say, even to explain, is evidence.

What happens after a DWI arrest in Minnesota?

Two cases start: the criminal charge and the license revocation, which begins right away and has a short deadline to challenge in court. Test refusal is its own crime. We handle both cases together.

Will this stay on my record?

Dismissals and many first-time convictions can be expunged after a waiting period. Some offenses can't be cleared. We tell you the realistic record outcome on the first call.

What's the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony?

Misdemeanors carry up to 90 days, gross misdemeanors up to a year, and felonies more than a year in prison. Reducing a charge by a level is often the real fight.

Can the charges be dismissed?

Sometimes. Illegal stops and searches, unreliable tests, missing witnesses and weak evidence all lead to dismissals or reductions. Diversion and stays of adjudication are available for many first offenses.

Should I take the first plea offer?

Not before a lawyer reviews the evidence. First offers are rarely the best offers, and some pleas carry consequences for licenses, immigration status and jobs that prosecutors don't mention.

What does a defense lawyer cost?

The consultation is free. Fees depend on the charge and the court, and we explain them plainly before you decide. Most cases are flat fee, so you know the number up front.
